An inferno broke out in a one-story wooden barn killing fifteen horses.
One day before the opening of the fall racing season at Bay Meadows Racecourse, a barn with 25 horses stabled went up in smoke with only ten horses escaping and two of which had their backs on fire in the process.
Arson is suspected as the cause of the fire so an arson squad was called to the scene.
Bernard Perry, fire chief: "The fire exploded near the center of the barn. Flames were shooting out of the building when we got here. The fire is definitely suspicious."
The suspect of the arson has not been found.

Good lead.
P2: you've got the right info, but it's an awfully long sentence. How about breaking it in two?
P4: Revisit quote format.
"The fire exploded near the center of the barn," said Fire Chief Bernard Perry. "Flames were shooting out of the building when we got here. The fire is definitely suspicious."
You don't need the last paragraph.
